A Last Hurrah

Four years ago to our utter amazement we became homeowners. Three months ago we closed on our second, a complete and wonderful surprise. I am still in shock, but as soon as the crust of ice ebbs away and our bed is tucked in spring-fresh linens at our new home I am sure the fact will sink in. By the time mud has coated the world, and certainly before the mosquito swarms descend I will have fully accepted this dream come true.

Just read what I wrote one year ago and be astonished with me! Norah was but two when we moved here and Brett was delivering pizzas. Now she is closing in on seven and he has discovered his affinity for machining. We have not been blessed with more children of our own, but so many little lives have made their way into our home & hearts under this roof. The Portage has transported us from young, broke, starry-eyed wanderers to thirty-year-old, frugal, starry-eyed homesteaders. We have hosted many a game night, holiday celebration, and overnight guest within these walls. We have planted a tree, harvested gardens, and repaired and remodeled and renovated. We have loved living life here, walking to the library and county fair and farmers markets and so, so much more. Owatonna has left an indelible mark on our hearts.

Blooming Prairie is not far off. Good memories will only increase. What a wonderful launching these four years have been.

our last picture here

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures
